Our strengths

We were responsible to establish the main access route to "Saitama Stadium 2002" where the quarter final game of the "FIFA World Cup TM 2002" co-hosted by Japan and the South Korea took place. It takes about 20 minutes from the nearest station of Urawa-Misono to the stadium. The road leading to the stadium is 1.2km long, surrounded by much natural greens, and provided exclusively for pedestrians.

We also contribute to the purification of rivers nearby by equipping water introduction pipes for environment in the tunnels of subway which was the first case in Japan. The water introduction pipes conducts water for environment from Arakawa River for improvement of water quality and secure of flux of Ayase River and Shibakawa River and so on. This action is enhanced by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Japan.

History

Saitama Railway Corporation was established on March 25, 1992 as a semi-public joint venture company who constructs and operates the subway line "Tokyo No.7" which belongs to Saitama prefecture (Kawaguchi-city, Hatogaya-city and Saitama-city). We started railway operations on March 28, 2001.

Subway line "Tokyo No.7"

Subway line "Tokyo No.7" is a subway line connecting between Meguro and the eastern part of the former Urawa-city (now Saitama-city). Its construction was completed in 1990 according to reports submitted to the ministry of transportation at that time (July 1985) by a transportation policy deliberative council. The line which belongs to Tokyo Metropolitan Government began its construction in February 1986 by the former Tokyo Underground Railway Company (now Tokyo Metro Co., Ltd.) and started operation as a "Namboku-line (South-North line) in September 1990 between Meguro and Akabane-Iwabuchi.

Saitama Railway line connects between Akabane-Iwabuchi and Urawa-Misono and goes to Hiyoshi (Yokohama-city) by joint operations with Tokyo Metro "Namboku-line" and Tokyu "Meguro-line".
